One of the classics of mid-20th century English theatre, J.B. Priestley’s daring play takes place in an English industrial city, where an eminently respectable British family is subject to a routine inquiry in connection with the suicide of a young girl. An inspector calls on the family to interrogate them, and during the course of his questioning, each of them is implicated in the girl’s undoing. Before the evening is over, the formerly friendly and close-knit family members reveal themselves to be selfish, self-centered or cowardly – their good humor turning to acid and their fellowship to disdain.

“For all its Edwardian setting and its mid-twentieth-century no-exit philosophy, An Inspector Calls speaks with ease to our own times, bedeviled with ‘alternate facts’ and ethical doubts.” – The Arts Fuse

“A staple of English Literature GCSE; we’ve all grown up knowing the twists and turns of J.B Priestley’s classic play… emphasises the themes of society, class, gender and generational divide.” – Get the Chance
